Dear Journal,
March is National Reading Month. This month I got to interview a real author. Reading is my favorite thing in the whole wide world. Last week, Tee-Tee took me to a book signing. The author was Jennifer Francis. Her book is called, “I AM ME.”
This lady is awesome! Not only did she write the book, she illustrated it too.
“Jennifer Francis is an artist, designer, entrepreneur and avid crafter. In the book, I Am Me, she uses her artistic gifts to bring the characters and the definitions of themselves to life. Her vision is to help promote self-esteem and to uplift young girls in all their wonderful diversity.”
When I found out she wrote the book, I had to meet her. I was nervous, but she was super nice and signed my book for me. Because I’m a Professional Problem Solver, I wanted to know what problem she was solving by writing her book. She was so kind. She even let me ask her a few questions.
What is your name? Jennifer Francis
Where did you grow up? Brooklyn, New York
What is the name of your book? I Am Me
Why did you write it? I wrote my book to let young girls know to dream big. I also wanted young girls to know they have everything within them to accomplish anything they set their minds to do.
What problem does your book solve? Low Self Esteem
Do you consider yourself and problem solver? Why? I consider myself to be a problem solver because my book uses the power of words to remind and reinforce to young girls who they are.
What message do you have for kids and parents? My message is simple, to show young girls that they are amazing and that they have everything within them to accomplish all their dreams and goals.
For National Reading Month, I’m going to do a giveaway of this book on my social media. I know only one person will win, but people can go to her website and order a book. I really want kids to love reading as much as I do.
Until next time Problem Solvers,
-IVYLOCS
